Ancient Egypt ...

The ancient Egyptians paying close attention to care of themselves, partly for reasons of hygiene, but also to look more beautiful (men and women together). The many recipes come down to us, deal with medicated ointments and cosmetics special, but the boundary between medicine and cosmetics, in this case, it's really subtle ingredients and preparation were the same.
There are numerous recipes dedicated to the youth of the skin (even in ancient times there were the anti-wrinkle creams), anti-stain and deodorants ...! The latter is of fundamental importance, used by men and women, were prepared in the form of pasta with grated carob, or "balls" of oatmeal with fragrant resin of turpentine, or clutches of eggs mixed with shells of ostrich boiled eggs and resin.
more fundamental problem was the loss of hair: there were an infinite number of remedies for balding to regrow hair for a person completely bald! And, when you could not aim, we resorted to wigs, of which there was a major industry in Egypt.
Men and women liked to wear makeup very eyes with malachite (light green) and galena (black kohl). The women painted the cheeks with red ocher mixed with grease or resins and a similar preparation was to serve as a lipstick.
The body was sprinkled with perfumed oils that not only have the function of protecting the skin from wind and sun, keeping the skin supple and soft.
From the Eighteenth Dynasty (405 BC) appear on top of the head of the cones of perfumed fat that, when heated, melted and impregnated with perfume before the wig - or hair - and then the clothes ... we now might seem like a crap but in ancient Egypt was to be considered a true delicacy! Personally, I find it amazing how personal care - not only in the toilet - whether to cross every age. Sometimes we tend to think that only the modernization has led to great achievements, then you look back and see that we are stuck in some areas than 3000 years ago ...
